If your company needs targeted impressions, then a great way to use your ad spend is on sponsoring a WordPress newsletter – even if the product isn’t WordPress-specific.
Say you’re an email campaign product (Omnisend, Brevo, Mailchimp) or an accounting program (Xero, QuickBooks, FreshBooks), you still need to reach agencies that need your SaaS. Online businesses that build websites with 45% market share is a great place to start.
“The adoption of WordPress has impressively surged since January 1, 2013, with a 17.4% usage across all websites. By June 1, 2025, its market share has climbed to 43.5%.” WPZoom
This doesn’t mean that WordPress companies should let their guard down when it comes to creating an ad spend (New Style Digital recommends 10% of your marketing budget be allocated to email marketing. B2B should spend 2-5% of revenue and B2C should spend 5-10% of revenue.)
If you have a new product (or one you don’t want people to forget) being in front of their eyes in their email inbox is marketing gold – especially when you don’t have to do the work of creating a targeted audience yourself. This is the beauty in sponsoring WordPress Newsletters. They’re alive, thriving, and growing!
How Did We Pick The Top WordPress Newsletters to Sponsor?
For our list of the top WordPress email lists (newsletters) to sponsor, we’re only including content that is focused on news in WordPress. #WebDesignerHabits by Cami MacNamera, for example, is a great newsletter focused on creating habits that boost your productivity – not necessarily the newest things in the WordPress business space. It is definitely worth reading and subscribing to.
The following are our choices in no particular order.
Number 1: The SDM Show
The SDM Show currently uses Substack for their newsletter which is gaining traction as a distribution source. This newsletter includes podcast episode links as well as thoughts about WordPress news and WordPress security news, specifically. Sometimes Rob Cairns adds personal thoughts as well which helps shape the culture of the newsletter into a human one. It’s free to subscribe and the number of subscribers will be shared privately.

Number 2: Post Status
Post Status has been an active part of the business community in WordPress since Brian Krogsgard founded it in 2013 and continues to do so under the Dutch nonprofit leadership. Unlike most of the News-related WordPress subscriptions, this newsletter subscription requires a membership to join. Their email subscriber numbers are also not public.

Number 3: The Repository
This cleverly-named newsletter is a repository of editorial content for the WordPress business space. It’s a throwback to the plugin director’s original name. This newsletter breaks down the Tea. It is not afraid of headlines that make your head turn. In addition to the normal mentions and links in the bottom or middle of a newsletter, The Repository also offers Sponsored Editorial content – something rare in the WordPress space.

Are you even in WordPress if you don’t know Remkus de Vries? All joking aside, Remkus is in the know from a contribution sense to WordPress core as well as business and community building. Most people see him as one of the reasons WordCamp Europe started and is so successful. The newsletter highlights new release performance and security concerns, notable websites using WordPress like CERN (yes, that CERN), hot takes, and in-context sponsor links.

Number 5: The WP Weekly
Another notable personality in the WordPress space is often known just by one name (like Madonna, Sting, Elvis): Davinder. He is one of the most friendly, gracious people in WordPress and sort of sparks joy to everyone he talks to. Not only that, but he’s been aggregating the top WordPress News for years. It’s the bulleted list you want to read – which will save you days from reading posts on X. Also notable is this is one of the only newsletters with an annual award program. Virtual red carpet only.

Number 6: Loop WP
Simon Harper has been publishing his weekly newsletter for a bit now and his latest issue (141) included links to his favorite newsletters as well. He includes his personal thoughts, something to build you up, and, of course, bulleted quips on the latest in WordPress News. This chap from Northern Ireland isn’t afraid of a headline either which is refreshing. Simon often runs Twitter Polls (are they called X Polls now?) to bring insights to the reader.

Number 7: WP Founders
This newsletter gives a lot of bang for its buck. It not only has a founder story, inspirational quotes, and regular bulleted headlines of WordPress News, but it also includes a list of coupon codes (sorted by least to greatest percentage off) for WordPress products. We don’t see this kind of value very often, which is kind of surprising.

Number 8: The WP World
The WP World is put together by Marcus Burnette, an event fanatic and lover of all things Community. You can find a list of people in WordPress (Pressers) on the site (people join and complete their profiles), WordPress events, sponsored businesses, and the newsletter also includes some of Marcus’ thoughts on events and event marketing. What makes this newsletter different is that it also has job listings at the end of each issue.

Kyle Van Deusen’s Admin Bar newsletter is called the Friday Chaser. It highlights top posts in his Facebook Group (The Admin Bar) as well as notable WordPress news, and some encouragement for agency owners. In addition to the insight from the group, he also administers an annual survey of WordPress professionals that gives insight to business people that is useful for advertisers.

Number 10: The WP Minute
Of course, we’re going to include The WP Minute in one of the top WordPress Newsletters for companies to sponsor. Not only is it one of the most respected independent media outlets in the WordPress space, but also has a lot of opportunities for new sponsors.
Though we have multiple spots for ad spend, we believe that Pillar Sponsorships, which include regular podcast and newsletter mentions, custom brand promotion, and backlinks, is the best value for serious advertisers. The WP Minute is the only omnichannel advertising space in WordPress.
